Kyoritsu Seiyaku Basic Sustainability Policy
Based on our management philosophy of “Building a mutual path for animals and humans,” we pursue continuous growth and contributions to a sustainable society through all business activities. Based on the principles below, we fulfill our social responsibilities as a good corporate citizen through sound business practices supported by the trust of our stakeholders in Japan and overseas.
- In all business areas, we develop and provide socially useful and safe products, including veterinary medicines, in order to achieve sustainable economic growth and resolve social issues.
- We engage in fair and free competition, appropriate transactions, and responsible procurement in all business areas. We also maintain sound relationships with political and administrative authorities.
- In order to enhance our corporate value, we communicate with a wide range of stakeholders and disclose corporate information in a proactive, effective, and fair manner. With regard to the protection of personal information, we comply with our Privacy Policy and properly manage information.
- We respect the human rights of all employees and persons affected by our business activities.
- We provide consumers and customers with appropriate information and sincere communication regarding products and services to earn their satisfaction and trust.
- We enhance the abilities of our employees and realize work styles that respect diversity, personality, and individuality. We also strive to create a comfortable work environment that considers health and safety.
- We take proactive action to address environmental issues as common issues for all humankind and as an essential requirement for the existence and activities of a company.
- As a good corporate citizen, we actively participate in society and contribute to its development.
- We thoroughly implement systematic crisis management in preparation for the actions of antisocial forces and groups that threaten the order and safety of civil society, as well as for natural disasters and other events.
- In overseas business development, we respect all international rules and local laws as well as the local cultures and customs and conduct business that contributes to the development thereof.
- Our officers recognize that their role is to realize these principles, lead by example, thoroughly implement the policy throughout the company, and disseminate the policy to group companies and business partners. We continuously monitor opinions from both inside and outside the company, maintain effective internal systems, and ensure thorough compliance with corporate ethics. In the event of a situation that violates these principles, the officers work to resolve the issue, investigate the cause, and make efforts to prevent a recurrence. After clarifying the authorities and responsibilities of the relevant parties, we take stringent disciplinary action without exception.
Sustainability goals to which Kyoritsu Seiyaku contributes
The SDGs are common goals for the international community adopted at the UN Summit in September 2015. The SDGs comprise 17 goals and 169 targets to be achieved by 2030 in order to resolve the problems of poverty, the environment, and social justice facing the world toward the realization of a sustainable society that leaves no one behind.
Among the 17 goals under the SDGs, the following goals have close relationships with the technologies and knowledge that we have cultivated in the research and development of veterinary medicines, approaches that exceed the common boundaries of pharmaceuticals, and business activities through co-creation with partner companies across industries. Our businesses are linked to many other goals under the SDGs. We will contribute to the accomplishment of the SDGs through continued activities.
Examples of our activities
-
Supply of safe and secure food
We strive to provide a stable and sustainable supply of safe, secure food through research, manufacturing, and the marketing of pharmaceuticals for livestock and aquaculture animals, as well as by sharing feed and hygiene management information.
-
Protecting aquatic resources
We protect limited aquatic resources and contribute to the prevention of marine pollution through the development of vaccines for cultured fish, establishment of manufacturing methods, and marketing thereof.
-
Protecting the animal ecosystems
By supporting the rehoming of shelter dogs and cats, we establish systems that enable all dogs and cats to live equally healthy lives and contribute to reducing the impact on animal ecosystems caused by the breeding of stray dogs and cats.
